How to Measure Wall Lights

As promised, here is our blog post about how to measure wall lights. Scroll down to see Lighting Design’s measuring guides.

In a bathroom, with wall lights such as sconces, it is best practice to place them just above eye level. Or, 60”-65” from the ground to the backplate. Pictured here is the Savoy House Chaplin One Light Wall Sconce.

When measuring a bath bar light, the bar should be ¾ the size of the mirror it is going over. Pictured here is the Savoy House Drake Three Light Bath Bar.

To install sconces into an area such as a hallway, we recommend to keep them 8’-10’ apart. Pictured here is the Savoy House Chaplin One Light Wall Sconce and the Uttermost Hayley Console Table

If you are installing a sconce next to your bed, the top of the sconce should be 55”-60” from the floor. Pictured here is the Livex Lighting Swing Arm Wall Sconce

That’s all for this blog post! Until next time. And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest to stay inspired.
