Trend Alert: Vintage Inspired Lighting
Vintage-inspired lighting is one of the biggest home trends we are seeing in 2026. Many homeowners are using vintage lighting to create a cozy, homey feel in their spaces. Let's talk about vintage-inspired lighting, what defines it, why people love it, and Lighting Design's favorite pieces you can use in your own home.
What Defines Vintage-Inspired Lighting?
Lighting that is vintage-inspired looks just like the name implies. It's modern lighting with nods to classic and vintage silhouettes, glasses, and/or finishes. Key characteristics of vintage-inspired lighting include:
- Aged finishes (i.e., antique brass, bronze, or patina)
- Soft, warm ambient glow (think 2700K from integrated LEDs)
- Decorative detailing/craftsmanship
- Exposed bulbs and retro silhouettes
In today's vintage-inspired light fixtures, many eras inspire them. Some of those eras and their distinctive elements are art deco glamour, mid-century modern simplicity, industrial warehouse style, and Victorian elegance.
Why Homeowners and Designers Love the Trend
It's easy to see why homeowners are gravitating toward vintage lighting. Various reasons, such as timeless appeal, where the vintage aesthetics of lighting feel curated and enduring. The warmth and personality of vintage lights can create inviting spaces that feel lived-in. Vintage-inspired fixtures can work in modern, rustic, eclectic, and even minimalistic interiors. Many homeowners have returned to an appreciation for heirloom pieces and long-lasting design. And vintage fixtures provide the sustainability and influence these homeowners are looking for.
Lighting Design's Favorite Vintage-Inspired Light Fixtures
In no particular order, here are some of our favorite vintage-inspired lights.
Holton by Savoy House Two Light Bath Bar
The ribbed glass and top and bottom gold finials add to the slim, rounded structure of this bath bar. This light comes in a 2, 3, and 4-light bath bar. As well as in black, and pendants/chandeliers. Any of these fixtures would make for the perfect vintage-styled lighting.

Bay Hollow Pendant by Hunter
This pendant brings distinctive style and warm illumination and is perfect for kitchens, dining rooms, bedrooms, and entryways. Though the glass calls back to the early 20s, the shape features a transitional design. Diamond-textured glass refracts light into unique patterns, adding depth and visual interest to any space.

Merida Pendant by Mitzi
Elegant in its simplicity, the Merida pendant pairs a pleated faux silk shade with crisp metalwork. A sleek racetrack loop extends from the top of the fixture, its elongated shape seeming to be drawn downward by the weight of the shade. The pleated shade calls back to the 19th-century Victorian furnishings.

Vendome Wall Sconce by Visual Comfort
A classic, double-light sconce, the Vendome comes in dark, brass, and nickel finishes. The sconce can be installed in bathrooms, stairwells, or hallways. The polished nickel reminds homeowners of the late 1930s when this finish rose to popularity.

Kismet Pendant by Maxim Lighting
The Kismet collection was designed in collaboration with Kismet House, whose style is embodied in the nostalgic details represented in the shapes, finishes, and overall concept of the collection.

Dutchess Flush Mount by Hudson Valley
While this photo shows the Dutchess pendant, it is the same as the flush mount minus the chain. The Dutchess starts with the classic schoolhouse shape, and opaque glass is fluted nicely to diffuse the light. The uncomplicated metal work and the iconic glass shape call to mind a time when the world seemed a simpler place.

Bundt Flush Mount by Maxim Lighting
Finished in Natural Aged Brass, the chain and metalwork complement the timeless elegance of the design, while ribbed glass accents add a distinctive, sophisticated detail to the design. This collection brings a graceful, feminine touch to the inverted bowl design inspired by the shape of a bundt cake.
