5 Simpler Ways to Update Your Guest Bath

5 Simpler Ways to Update Your Guest Bath

'Tis the season of guests visiting and staying at your home. Guest bathroom updates don't have to be a daunting task. Here are five simpler ways to update your guest bath.

 1. New paint. Don't undervalue a new coat of paint. With one to two gallons of paint, you can brighten up your bathroom and bring it forward 10-15 years. Millennial gray is no longer the go-to color for every room. Instead, opt for warm white colors such as beiges or creams. Swiss coffee from Benjamin Moore is a perfect paint option for a warm beige color.

2. Update your lighting. Homeowners tend to underestimate the power of good lighting. No matter how updated your bathroom may be, dim bathrooms always seem out of date or even unclean. We recommend three-light bath bars hanging over the mirror for smaller bathrooms. Or fixtures and light bulbs that give off 700-800 lumens. For larger bathrooms, you may want to consider overhead lighting such as disc lights or can lights in addition to a three-light or four-light bath bar or mirror sconces. 3. Switch out your hardware. Sink/shower faucets, cabinet hardware, drawer handles, and towel rings. There are so many options on where to start with hardware swaps. Or you can switch them all out at once. The sink faucet may be the best place to start when switching out bathroom hardware because it is the most noticeable. Delta faucets or Amazon have great options that won't break the bank. Many of their selections include options $200 and under and $100 and under. It may look best to swap out all bathroom hardware at once so it matches. Amazon or Wayfair will have some of the better budget options for your home. Your guests are sure to appreciate the changes, notably when it comes to shower faucet upgrades.

4. Get a new mirror. Switch out your builder-grade mirror for something a little more decorative. Opt for something with a frame or a different shape such as a circular or oval mirror. A mirror switch can be a fun upgrade that changes the overall look of your bathroom. Currently, popular mirrors tend to be rectangular with rounded corners and usually a black or gold rim. Additionally, you don't have to buy a new mirror to get a new mirror. Mirrors are a great item to try and thrift either from Facebook Marketplace or places like Goodwill or Savers.

Plus, adding two separate mirrors allows you to use sconces between and on either side of the mirrors for lighting.

5. Make a vanity change. This is a little bit of a bigger change but it is easier than you may think. Lighting Design sells vanities and various other companies such as Home Depot and Build.com sell them too. It can be as simple as removing your old vanity and replacing the new one. You may need a plumber to help with hooking up water lines, or you can search the good 'ol university of YouTube.
