Four Tips to Get Your Home Ready for the Holidays

With the holidays right around the corner, it's easy to get anxious about all the tasks that need to be done to get your home ready and beautiful.

1. Declutter. Holidays tend to bring more of everything. From food to toys to clothes, the Holidays usually mean a surplus of all these items. A great way to make room for more is to declutter! Start by room and decide ahead of time what you want to organize. We recommend the KonMari Method as a simple and easy way to decide how and what to get rid of.

 2. Feng Shui. Literally, feng shui translates to "wind and water." According to Healthline, "It's a practice that helps people align their energies with their surroundings. It isn’t a religion, though it’s linked to Taoism." The idea is as you rearrange your setting (think furniture, decor, etc.) you can bring more alignment to your life. Before the holidays this year, try rearranging some of your furniture to help you feel like you have a new space with minimal effort.

3. Update your guest room. The holidays bring guests. Whether wanted or unwanted, updating your guest room can help your guests feel welcome. Room updates don't have to be big. You can update your guest room with a new coat of paint, updated light fixtures, or new bedding. All of these changes can be cost-effective ways to improve your guests' stay.

4. Brighten your space. The best way to brighten your space is with updated lighting fixtures or bulbs. For light fixtures, we recommend fixtures that will put off enough light for the room they are going in. If you're not sure how much light a room needs, check out our blog, "How Much Light Do You Need." Check out our best selling light fixtures. If light fixtures seem like too much work, at least swap out your bulbs. We recommend bulbs with a color temperature of 3000K so as to not wash out the colors in your home. Be sure they are LED because you can get more light for lower wattage which means a brighter space overall.
