Interior Design Trend: European Chic Style

European chic interior design is one of the year's most popular design trends. It can be classified as a timeless design with classic features that are usually victorian-inspired. Let's look through the five main features and how you can incorporate them in your home.
  • Opulent crown molding. In European chic design, one feature found throughout is crown molding. Crown molding adds an elegant style to any room. And one of the best things about it, is that is can be a fairly straight forward DIY project. It's a great way to incorporate the European design trend in your home without exorbitant costs. Crown molding comes in various designs. Any one of those will still add a touch of European chicness to your home but traditional, colonial, and Victorian crown molding are the suggested styles to use. Another option to add molding to your space is with ceiling medallions. These medallions sit around the canopy of a light fixture and add a decorative element to the ceiling around electrical boxes.
  • Minimalist furniture. Another component of European chic is minimalist furniture. This type of furniture is characterized by sleek lines, neutral upholstery materials, and sleek design. All Modern is a great source of minimalist and modern furniture Their furniture has typically neutral fabrics and designs. Adding one of their pieces is sure to bring the European feeling right to home.
  • Light colors. It all depends on how your choose to create your European interior design style, but typically you'll want to go for lighter colors. This doesn't mean you can't add some moody paint to a room or dark linens. Just think light wood floors, light (usually white) molding, and lighter colors for furniture. You can also opt for lighter colored light fixtures that incorporate elemnents of linen, leather, or light gold. Rather than dark bronze or black light fixtures which can give a more modern look rather than a Eurpean chic style.
  • Victorian-inspired designs. When you think of Victorian-inspired designs you may think that this is the opposite of what European chic is trying to achieve. However, when carefully and properly utilized, Victorian-inspired piece can pull in the perfect amount of European style. Think Victorian-chandeliers which are highlighted by crystals and looping metals. Or you can add some wall paper to give a room depth. Just be sure to look for decor items that have lush fabrics (such as drapes), detailed woodwork, or inspiring patterns (such as rugs). Balancing it out with minimalist and classic design and pieces will give you the quintessential European chic style.
  • Marble & stone. These natural aspects can be key to incorporating European design in your home. Think marble countertops or stone backsplashes. They are timeless natural materials which provides a very chic feeling to any space. Marble and stone are best incorporated in places with counter tops or need for tiling. These include spaces such as kitchens and bathrooms. In particular, marble and stone will be a more costly addition, they will also be someo of the most classic parts of a European chic styled home.
