Salt Lake Parade of Homes Review 2024

Every year Salt Lake County hosts a nationally renowned Parade of Homes. Over the years millions of visitors have been drawn in to look at some of the best home designs in the industry. Lighting Design visits every year not only to see the inspired spaces but also the fixtures that light these magnificent homes. Here is our 2024 review of the Salt Lake Parade of Homes.

Overall review. Overall the 2024 Salt Lake Parade was a huge success. The homes were thoughtfully designed and built. The Parade included a look at a new community in Daybreak. Designs were up-to-date while still including the owners' tastes and personalities. Walking through them was like getting a glimpse into different peoples' everyday lives.

Lighting review. As per usual, the lighting selected for the Parade Homes did not disappoint. Several of the homes were done by our very own lighting experts here at Lighting Design. Lighting selections ranged from modern to traditional to glam. Every light fixture whether it was a ceiling light, wall light, or exterior lighting was selected to complement the style and design of each home.  Here are some beautiful examples of the lighting we saw in the homes.

Lighting Design's favorite homes. While all the homes were Parade-worthy, there were a few homes that stood out to us. Our favorite homes were home numbers four by City Point Homes, six by City Point Homes, and 16 by Rainey Homes.

  • Home #4 by Ivory Homes had a total of 7,000 square feet. Every room was thoughtfully designed. Named the "Butler Traditional" it lived up to its name with traditional designs and natural stone elements. It combined classic ceiling molding, wall trim, and traditionally silhouetted furniture.
  • Home #6 by City Point Homes is named "The Kennedy." It has a very modern exterior complemented by its contemporary. This home used black and white tones and black metal elements for a very modern vibe.
  • Home #16 named "The Newport" by Rainey Homes lives up to its name with its coastal interior and design. Tall ceilings and large windows give this home a very bright and beachy vibe. We loved how the builder and designer were able to bring a bit of the coast to mountain-clad Utah.

Home design trends. Inevitably as we walked through the homes we started to notice a few trending designs. Every home was unique but a lot of homes still had the influence of design trends and similar styles. One example includes wood-accented ceilings.

  • Bolder colors. In years past, neutral tones and creams ruled the town. This year, bold colors are tastefully placed throughout homes. This home, for example, accented the fireplace with a bold navy blue color.
  • Natural wood cabinets. White cabinets will likely always make an appearance because white is a classic color. In this year's Parade, it was the natural wood cabinets that were the theme in kitchens.
  • Wallpaper. 2024 will be known as the year that wallpaper made a comeback. Wallpaper can be a great way to add texture, color, and/or patterns to any room. Almost every home in the Parade had at least one room with wallpaper. This design choice brought life to the rooms and the homes they were in. Princeton Home Salt Lake Parade | Home #1
